Eskimo Candy
Leis and Loros
My visitor and I grabbed breakfast in town yesterday morning, then walked up and down Front Street to pick up souvenirs for my visitor to bring back home.
As we were walking around, the ladies were making leis in front of the Baldwin home.
I also dragged James to my favorite novelty store, Dan's Greenhouse, to look at loros (parrots). This is Bubbles, a sun conure. Isn't she pretty?Sailing!
My girlfriend, S., got us a set of complementary tickets to go sailing on the American II. I've never been on a sailboat on the open ocean, and I didn't know what to expect.
I certainly wasn't prepared for the adrenaline that pumped through my veins as the sailboat tipped and sliced through the waves and wind. Captain John plowed through waves and white water rushed over the front of the boat and splashed over most of us.
What a gorgeous view of West Maui!
Kapalua Bay
I took my visitor snorkeling at Kapalua Bay on Sunday afternoon. The water here is absolutely gorgeous.
The last time I was here, I was with my Portland college roommate after we graduated in 2008.
It's really amazing how I ended back at this snorkeling spot two years later.

Old Lahaina Luau
The drinks and food are plentiful, and the performances are captivating.
It was a great treat for both of us!

Obsessed.
Oops
This boat lost its anchor and washed ashore in front of our restaurant. It's been beached for the past few days, but the mast has now been removed.
The boat's owner gets fined $10,000 a day (so I've been told) for every day that the boat stays washed ashore.
