I'm not sure how I feel about Baz Luhrmann's glitzy, surreal adaptation of The Great Gatsby (and in 3D no less!). The Fitzgerald novel was one of my favorite high school required readings, and I feel that director Luhrmann and I imagined the book very differently.

Intense

I stumbled across this trailer for Andrea Arnold's adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Interesting casting for Heathcliffe, no? I think it's something I could totally get behind. The movie looks stunning. I can't wait to see it!

Swimming with the Fishies at Napili Bay
Posted on 10:17 PM by dimple
After meeting up with friends for lunch, Bryan and I drove north to Napili Bay. Upon arriving, I called up the family and told them to check me out on the Napili Bay live cam. You can check it out here. After a few adjustments, my mom easily found me on the beach. How cool is that? Bryan and I waved hello, then I got off the phone to head into the water.
I was super excited to try out my new bright pink fins (thanks, Drew!) again this afternoon, but the blister I acquired on yesterday's snorkel prevented that from happening.
No matter. I ditched the fins and swam "naked." Just my swim goggles, my bare feet and my underwater camera.
I was in the water after 5 pm, so it was feeding time for all the fish.
{a school of Convict Tangs}
{A smudge of a rainbow in the sky}
{small fish, long fish and lots of prickly sea urchins}
But my absolute favorite snorkel spotting this afternoon? A flippin' octopus! Bwahahaha! I had to insert the evil laughter. This is the first octopus I've spotted on my own. I feel so proud. I was swimming over the reef, and I noticed something mottled a rust color fluttering under a rock.
I swam in closer to investigate and was rewarded with this guy:
As I was taking photos of him, he decided he had enough and blasted me with a jet of water from his siphon (that white tube in the middle). I decided to leave him be and swam on.
{I like the blue tips on his fins}
{Vana!}
After I got out of the water and got comfortable on my beach towel, it began to sprinkle.
But here in Hawaii, where there is rain, there are rainbows!
We tried to sit it out, but after looking up and only seeing darkening skies, we decided to take off.

So Damn Catchy
Posted on 9:06 PM by dimple
I never thought I'd be a fan of Taylor Swift, but her new single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is really catchy--and the video is kind of cute too.
The song is stuck in my head, so now it should be stuck in your head too.
Have a nice day!

Things I Bought that I Love: Soriya Swimwear
Posted on 1:30 AM by dimple
A Maui girl can never have too many bikinis!
After surveying my bin of bathing suits, I decided it was time to round out my collection of sporty separates with some cuter, girly pieces. However, it was important for me to find a suit that would stay put when I'm out there swimming.
Happily, thanks to a glowing review from Oahu blogger Rebeka at Goldfish Kiss, I found my new favorite swimwear line: Soriya!!
All the bikinis are handmade in the USA by some very talented ladies in Los Angeles. The pieces are super soft and! get this!! REVERSIBLE.
I am wearing the Davy Top and the Kelley Bottoms--both in coral/aqua. As I mentioned above, both pieces are reversible, so you can do matchy-matchy or mix it up a bit.
I swim tested my new bikini this afternoon at Airport Beach, and it performed splendidly. Once I was all laced up, neither top nor bottom budged as I swam hard against the wind and current.
And how cute are the details on the suit? I love the straps across the back, and the gathered bottoms are super flattering. Plus, there are tiny shells attached to the drawstrings. Adorable.
If you want to read even more glowing praise for Soriya, check out Rebekah's review right here.

Poached to Perfection
Posted on 8:17 PM by dimple
The perfect post-workout/pre-work meal:
Two perfectly poached eggs served on top of brown rice, sauteed spinach and a splash of sausage marinara. Sprinkled with salt and pepper. Yum!
