13 Crossings and Gazebo's
Posted on 3:31 PM by dimple
On Thursday morning, Bryan and I got up early to accompany our friend Amy and her visitor friend out for breakfast and a hike.
We went to the popular Gazebo in Napili Bay.
Bryan and I have heard many good things about this place, but the restaurant is infamous for it's very long line.
Bryan doesn't look too happy to be at the end of the line.
We took turns waiting in line so we could walk down to the shore and take a look at the tide pools.
We saw a sea star:
And lots of sea urchins crammed into tiny hidey holes in the lava rock:
Finally we made it into the restaurant for breakfast, where this little sparrow kept a very close watch on our food:
Bryan was very serious about his stack of pancakes.
Until he realized he was being photographed!
Look at the size of those pancakes!
Breakfast was overwhelmingly large, but the prices were small. If I can brave the lines, I'll come back here again.
After breakfast, the four of us hopped into the car and continued north towards our hike. I had never been this far north. I practically had my whole head and shoulders out of the car window to take in the views.
We rounded a bend and went through a teeny tiny village. A lot of homes had set up little stalls on the road selling cold drinks, shave ice and snacks.
A smoothie truck set up at a lookout on the road.
We had a little trouble finding the trailhead for the 13 Crossings hike. The mile marker that everyone uses to designate the start of the hike is missing. We had to double back and ask a friendly driver for some assistance.
We found the trailhead, parked the car and headed through the fence to the hike.
Amy and Junior heading in:
The hike is called 13 Crossings because that is how many times you cross the stream to get to the waterfall at the end of the hike.
Our first crossing:
After crossing the stream for about the fifth time, the trail wanders in through a small bamboo forest. Notice the handmade stone walls:
Some fun plants on the trail:
Fields of ferns:
A closeup:
Almost there!
We all climbed to the outcrop over the falls to take a look at our next step if we dared to take it.
You can climb up over this waterfall to check out the pool and waterfall above it.
The boys assess the climb.
Junior on his climb back down. He was the only one brave enough to give it a go!
Amy and Bryan at the top of the falls:
Looking down over the waterfall into the pool below.
My favorite find on the trail! Wild berries:

The Joys of Shopping
Posted on 1:15 AM by dimple
Bryan had to run a few errands on the other side, so I drove him to the DMV and I headed to the mall--where I encountered a Farmer's Market.

After knocking around in a few store and not finding anything, I got lunch at Ramen-Ya. I didn't realize that my lunch was going to be so enormous:

The dumplings were accompanied with rice and a huge bowl of egg drop soup. I carried around leftovers for the rest of the afternoon.
After lunch and some listless wandering around, I met Bryan and we headed to Ross--where we saw this car in the parking lot:

I wonder if they got the vanity plates before or after the new Avengers movie.
Inside the store I picked up these super sweet and super high Carlos Santana heels. I carried them around the store for an hour debating whether or not I should buy them. With a little encouragement from my friends (thank you Facebook!), I decided to get them.
And they are awesome!!

I would love to know who would buy these:

I'm really, really sad that I left these Star War tumblers at the store. These should have come home with me!!

Pushup Challenge
Posted on 6:41 PM by dimple
I've been doing 50 pushups a day since Friday. I do 25 before work and then complete the other 25 when I get home at night.
I hope to start building my strength back up so I can power through 50 all in one go. Once I do that, then I may start working up to 100 pushups a day.
I'm only 4 days into the challenge now, but I am already noticing a difference! It feels great. Will you join me on my pushup mission?

Guess Who?
Posted on 6:32 PM by dimple
Guess who was sleeping under my car again?
Tux!
All cute and flopped over on his back.
He even had a buddy sprawled out in the shade behind him.
Oops! Woke him up.
My neighbors have the prettiest flowers:
I saw this little guy hanging out upside down on the telephone pole down the street from my house.
These snapshots are just a little preview of what's to come with my newly arrived Panasonic Lumix! So happy to have replaced my underwater, shock-proof, killer quality digital camera.
Expect many more photos!
