Aloha Friday, everyone! Although technically, it's my Monday--I'm back to work already after a great "weekend" away from the restaurant. It was a treat to sit out the madness of working on the Fourth of July. My housemates and I hosted a fun BBQ at the "compound" with lots of friends, great eats and beer. The BBQ ended early on as TOLO band members took their instruments into town to play a show at Cool Cat Cafe. After everyone had slowly trickled away from the house, I ran the hill before sunset, and I watched the fireworks show from the house.
I motivated myself to get an early start this morning to check out Island Spirit Yoga and attend my first yoga class in a long, long time. I was gifted three classes from a friend that moved off island over a year ago, and I'm finally taking advantage of this free yoga. I took the Gentle Yoga class with Sonya, and I was so happy I finally made it in. I felt like I grew 5 inches after the class. I plan on going back into the studio on Monday to try another class.
I came home, devoured lunch and then took a nap! Obviously, I've had a very relaxing morning.
I've been dipping into my first book on the Kindle--I just started reading The Shining Girls, and then I collected our share of the vegetables from our Kula Fields box.
This is what came in our box:

Except that we didn't get butter lettuce or asparagus or onions or lilikoi or mango...I'm guessing this photo is from the larger box (we purchase the medium sized box for Will, Bryan and I).
I'm excited for the green bell peppers! I've been wanting to try making stuffed peppers, so here's the perfect opportunity. I'll probably use one of the ears of corn as well.
The more unusual suspects for me this time around are the zapotes (they're the mysterious green bulbous vegetables on the left hand side of the photo) and the purple turnips.
I'll let you know what I come up with!
