After taking Hana to sushi last night and watching her wrestle pieces of fish with a fork, I remembered that I bought her a present a few months before her arrival and stashed it away for safe keeping.
Hana and her set of beginner chopsticks.
Easy!
We drove out along the Hana Highway to the hippy dippy boutique shopping town of Paia. Our first stop was lunch at my favorite: Flatbread Pizza Company.
We got a 16 inch half and half flatbread: Hana's side was homemade sausage and mine was veggie with a sundried tomato macadamia nut pesto.
We had to take home some leftovers...which we ended up sharing with a homeless guy in Paia who offered us $2 in quarters for a slice. Hana and I went ahead and gave him two slices and let him keep his change.
I liked the pizza box!
After shopping up and down Paia (and buying some great trinkets for ourselves and others), we headed back home and made a stop at Maui Ocean Center aquarium.
This tako or octopus was roaming all around his tank. He "walked" along the top of the tank and hid in the near upper corner, then he shot down to the bottom of the tank before "walking" his way back up the tank wall to his hiding spot.
Hana going into the open jaws of a shark on our way to the big shark tank and underwater tunnel:
Now we're back at home resting before dinner and the TOLO show at Kimo's.
