Bryan and I both had the day off--which is a very rare treat, so Bryan took the cover off of his 1962 Thunderbird and we cruised up north to Ka'anapali Beach for lunch, sunshine and surf.

We ate at Leilani's. It's one of the sister restaurants to the one that I work for, and I was excited to try it out and take advantage of my discount.
We started with Sashimi, and then we ate a whole bunch of other things that I got too excited about eating to take time and take a photograph.
After lunch, we laid out on the beach. There was a high surf advisory all day yesterday. Today the wind had died down as did the waves, but there were still a few sizable swells. A lot of the beach goers enjoyed the big shore break, but a few big waves surprised a few beach walkers who got drenched.

As I walked down the beach after a long swim, I came across this band of sand sculptors. Apparently they've been on the beach every day since the first of the year making amazing sand creations. I'm glad I stumbled across their mermaid.
They adorned her with real hibiscus flowers.
The detail on this was astounding: the huge clam shell behind the mermaid and skulls under her tail
