The past few days have been incredibly up and down and busy and all over the place. Thank God for good food to get me through it all!
Out of all the madcap news and adventures, the frosting on the cake is that Bryan and I have been offered the apartment that we had our fingers crossed for.
We will be moving in on the 15th of August. Hip, hip, hooray!
Our new one bedroom apartment has got a breathtaking ocean view and a huge kitchen. I'm super excited to get cooking again. In fact, I just made a major Amazon.com order for new cookware, a knife set and cooking utensils. I can't wait for it all to arrive!!
And during all the excitement (all the high's and low's), I've been eating some damn good food:
This was the Lox Benedict that I ate this morning at my favorite hole in the wall, Mom & Pop shop Sunrise Cafe.
Sitting at the bar at my favorite place to get pasta: Longhi's. This was from a few days ago. I got their killer Longhi Salad garnished with green beans as well as their simply amazing Pasta Bolognese.
Like the rest of the world, Bryan and I have been watching the Olympics. Usually very, very late at night. NBC has been a very frustrating broadcaster, so it's been hard to catch some of our favorite events. I managed to watch 2 minutes of show jumping last night and saw Mary King of Great Britain medal in team eventing show jumping.
Of course, we've been loving gymnastics.
As well as swimming.
It is incredibly humbling to watch these Olympians slice through the water. These guys and girls are slaying a 50 meter freestyle split in 20-something seconds. At my very fastest, I can do 50 meters in 40 seconds. Wow.
And who even knew this was a sport?
(that's a still from the men's canoe slalom)
Check out more amazing photographs of the Olympics here.
