Wednesday was a big day out for Bryan and me.
I was up early fighting ants by 7 in the morning. Happily, ACE Hardware Store is open before 8, so I was able to wrangle up some ant poison spray that I used gleefully on the teeny tiny intruders.
While Bryan was still asleep, I treated myself to a Lox Bagel at Take Home Maui. While I was there, I snagged a copy of Alexandra Fuller's Don't Lets Go to the Dogs Tonight from Vickie's collection of books to borrow. I'm eagerly re-reading Dogs possibly for the third or fourth time right now. It's one of my all-time favorites.
Later in the afternoon, Bryan and I went to Napili Bay to escape some of the Lahaina heat (see previous post). We met up with our friend Chris, who suggested cocktails and pupus at Merriman's--a swanky restaurant and lounge on the water at Kapalua Bay.
This was my first visit to Merriman's, and I was greeted with a pretty epic sunset.
So epic that this guy was painting it!
Our friend was calling the sunset "fire on the mountain."
We took a spot at the front of Merriman's lanai by the fire.
Merriman's has the most amazing view. It's as if the ocean wraps 360 degrees around the restaurant.

We are looking a little blurry. I'm working on improving Bryan's photography skills.
A little red and a little white at Merriman's!
After watching the sunset and enjoying our drinks, Bryan and I went to Kimo's for dinner. Bryan was craving the BIG prime rib (all 32 ounces of it).
That is 32 ounces of medium rare prime rib with mashed potatoes AND a lobster tail.
And this is one happy diner:
Today has been a much more relaxing day filled with leftovers (don't worry, Bryan didn't enjoy all 32 ounces of his prime rib at the restaurant).
Now, we are headed off to see the new Batman movie!!
